coco mais, africanos, and gorgeous eyes.
Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 10:13PM i love them all, first off. coco mais, a new action, thank you friends at redleaf. all three images edited with the perfectly named descriptive action. i love the rich tones, the hints of golden yellow and the perfect grain. ok, i might have added a tiny bit. i do love a bit of noise in my photos.
and africanos. my favorite drink. my very, very, very, favorite drink. coffee lovers will probably know what it is, but others may wonder so i will just offer a tiny explanation. it's a perfect double shot of lovingly roasted espresso, then equal parts steamed milk and heated water. a cross between a latte and an americano. i love them. they are perfect when made slowly by a barista who cares about the art of espresso. this one was made at discovery coffee on oak bay ave. really it's worth the trip if you haven't gone. i love the shop, all the tables are vintage sewing machines, there are plants growing all over the place and the staff, they were happy. they were chatting, laughing, and they were passionate about what they were doing. it's rare and it's nice to be present enough in life to notice. i loved my africano. i loved being there with my husband and daughter and son.
and my daughters eyes. they are beautiful. they would be beautiful if they were green, if they were brown, if they were hazel, they are just gorgeous. they reflect who she is. she is such a complex creative thought provoking child. she makes me stop. she makes me think before i react and she never lets me get away with anything.... that i shouldn't. it's weird. when its serious and something needs to get done she never gets in the way. but, when i try and do just one more selfish thing; one more thing that doesn't really need doing right now; one more thing that can easily wait until she is in bed; one more thing that is not important... she is relentless. it's taken me a long time to learn. sometimes i lose patience, i get mad, i tell her to stop interrupting. but every time ... she is right, she is always right. she never ever interrupts when it's inappropriate. she helps keep me honest. she helps me determine what exactly is the most important thing in my life and it is her. and her brother and her father and the rest of our relations. all of them, friends and family. the rest can wait. the rest may be important too, but just not as time sensitive. thank you daughter. i love you.
