my very own family

two nights ago we had our family photos taken by rebecca wellman. she is my friend, my business partner and she is amazing.

so my own business is centered around family photography. i simply adore photographing families. i love being around them during a photo session, i love editing the session and when i get home, i actually catch myself smiling along as i sift through the images after and even let out a few laughs as i look at the smiles on the faces of the parents and children. i am not a portrait photographer, my subjects are not still and perfect,  i think i do best at capturing emotions and connections and the true spirit of families. so every time i get home and start putting together a gallery for a family i think... oh my i have not one image of my own family. none. i have countless beautiful images of my husband and the kids. but none with me in them. for the most part that is ok, i am not that comfortable in front of the camera. i love being behind it. the camera is a bit of a shelter.

but as i age... gulp, yes its true i think i am maturing. i want my kids to have albums full of memories. memories of the time we played in an empty parking garage. with chalk, and hula hoops and hopscotch. and memories of those dirty dirty black feet from that parking garage. i want my kids to remember what their mom looked like. i think there are two photos in our house of me from between the time they were born until now. thats horrible, really really horrible. sad actually. i cringe thinking that if something were to have happen prior to my lovely rebecca having taken our photos how my children would have remembered what their mom looked like. so ok, enough of that kind of thinking but i think i made my point. photos are important. they don't have to be professional photos they just have to include everyone.

so i am not even sure how i could ever start to thank rebecca, i am just so happy with the memories she has created for us. go to her blog and check them out. she posted lots for us to look at. they are beautiful. and if anyone needs any family photos i am happy to help you out... but i think i am fully booked for the summer, but fall photos are beautiful too... but  then again so are summer ones. i do know rebecca has some openings still this summer if you want a summer session, she is the only person i would share my clients with xoxo

It was absolutely my pleasure Michelle! I couldn't think of a better family to spend an evening in an empty parking lot with. :)
